- The Center for Co-operatives and CED brings together the traditions of community building and community development. These two traditions have effectively sought to bring about positive change in the condition of marginalized groups both in the US and abroad. The vision of the center is to bring about positive change in the economic, social and/or political condition of marginalized individuals, groups and communities. The center seeks to promote fair access to and co-ownership of the center's knowledge and partnership based "products and services".
- Our purpose is to foster a new generation of co-operative developers, educators and policy makers. The center provides information and referral services to people seeking information about starting co-ops and sponsored training and services in the field of community economic development and co-operatives. Recent projects have included evaluation research on food co-op development; training on community economic development and board development for credit union boards and staff. We also recently concluded a webinar series entitled "Cooperatives in Troubled Times" and are currently advising a startup of a food co-op in Manchester, NH.
