A portion of The Manifesto was republished on info.coop. The story links to David Van Arsdale's blog where the complete Manifesto is published. It struck me as a well-written argument for Workplace Democracy that focuses on many of the positive points while ignoring some of the more trenchant challenges.The premise that increased cooperation and democracy in the workplace and in our residential communities will or can lead to broader political change is intriguing. The revolutionary call of the Manifesto is uplifting but what are they really asking for?

John Duda, of Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse, a worker-owned and operated business in Baltimore, writes in the spring issue of Indypendent Reader about the process of building a just and sustainable economy by examining a local worker dog-walking cooperative called Just Walk, Cleveland's Evergreen Cooperatives, and the Sojourner-Douglass College plan to rebuild a neglected part of Baltimore called Oldtown with a community wealth strategy that will include cooperatives.
