Catalyzing worker co-ops & the solidarity economy

Democracy activists to unite this August

A large and diverse group of activists, organizers, artists, educators, students, elected officials, and others from around the U.S. are coming together for the 2017 Democracy Convention to strengthen democracy where it matters most - in our communities, our schools, our workplaces and local economies, our military, our government, our media, our Constitution. August 2-6, 2017 at the University of Minnesota, dozens of organizations will unite to host a convention featuring eight conferences under one roof, each exploring different fronts of struggle in the fight for democracy.

Now, more than ever, we must focus on building the institutions and culture we want and deserve so that We The People have the power to decide our collective future. The Democracy Convention will center work on voting rights and accountable government, democratizing global governance, building a democratic peace, media democracy, democratizing education, ecological democracy, democratizing the Constitution, and economic democracy. We bring these these separate democracy struggles together in order to unite them in a common, deeply rooted, broad based, movement for democracy.
