EMPOWERMENT and LOVE 6.

I ended my last blog on a somewhat chilling note:

Pity us all and our reaching for a deeper and more joyous democracy. Rare is the space where we can risk reaching openly for our personal and collective truths, where we can truly talk and think together with heart and mind. Where understanding in depth is not sacrificed to a right way of thinking. Nor sacrificed to satisfying our craving for feeling sure that we belong and are “okay” by cheaply joining the righteously outraged rather than struggling with the muddle of truths at hand.

Indeed, rare is it that the speakers who are passionate for new radical structures and next systems even recognize the essential relevance of such spaces for “the revolution.”

Universe came back quickly on an oceanic trade wind from New Zealand.

               a caring organisation

feelings, magic & gendered work: processes & structures of a collaborative workplace

It is the story of a worker co-op in NZ that recognizes the importance of creating a space “where we can risk reaching openly for our personal and collective truths, where we can truly talk and think together with heart and mind.” The author writes in response to this specific question:

What do you think are the most critical things (I’m talking specific processes, policies, and structures rather than values) that make up non-competitive and more collaborative and caring workplaces? Spaces where people are encouraged to really praise and acknowledge someone else’s work rather than hide someone else’s contribution, where people want to spend time on the collective good rather than next personal gain, and where the often invisible and gendered work of caring and ‘organisation culture’ is prioritised and publicly valued as critically important? What are some practical things you can implement, aside from the destruction of capitalism? Ideas, you wise group of souls?”

He gives a grand answer. There is more to say about it, and I hope to have the time to do so soon. But for now it is a great balance to my harsher note.

Enjoy.
